Looking at the map of Europe, you find the village of Skalité at the point of joining three states: Slovakia, Poland and Czech republic. Not far from this joining point, there is a beginning of the village land area. There is another joining point on the border line among land areas of Polish villages Koniakov, Zwardoň and the village of Skalité which used to devide historical Sliezsko, Poland and Slovakia. It borders on the land area of Oščadnica village in the South, of the town Čadca and in the west of Čierne village. Through Skalité and Štúrovo runs meridian line which represents the biggest width in Slovakia: 196,7km. Metaphorically said, Slovakia is the “thickest“ at this place.
